The Georgia General Assembly concluded the 2011 legislative session on Thursday, April 14th, wrapping up a session that began with an ice storm that crippled the state in early January. The session saw a record numbers of new legislators in both the House and Senate and a government that continued to make touch choices while faced with budget demands and decreased revenues from the economic downturn.
Your GSASC legislative team once again was your champion, representing the interests of ambulatory surgery centers and their owners at the Capitol, carefully following the hundreds of bills that were introduced.
This session alone, GSASC kept members updated on issues related to insurance, healthcare and public safety, practice issues and scope of practice expansions.
Thanks to everyone who called their legislators on various issues during the session, and a special thanks to those physicians who came to the Capitol! Your voice made a huge difference!
A complete and detailed legislative summary has been mailed to all GSASC members. Contact Lasa Joiner or Travis Lindley for more details.
